I’m glad you are here!
I was raised in a family with a keen sense of appreciation for nature, how we exist in it and all it does for us. Using herbs in food and as medicine from a young age, instilled a love for botanical medicine. Personally experiencing healing transformation through acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine for some kidney concerns, I realized there is more to healing than just medications. Through my own health struggles with PCOS and thyroid issues, I noticed the power of nutrition and lifestyle in healing. Naturopathic medicine uses all these treatment modalities along with conventional medications and advanced therapies to support the healing power of the body. I truly believe that our bodies and minds are amazing, we just need to support it the right way to see shifts in our health.
Background
How I got into Naturopathic Medicine
I started my post-secondary education with an Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Engineering learning about medical equipment but I soon learned that I’m more passionate about human anatomy and physiology as I would spend hours and hours on end diving deeper and deeper into those topics. Around the same time, I also experienced personal health issues I mentioned above when my periods had stopped, I was gaining weight even when I was eating nothing, I was so puffy and bloated all the time. I felt like no one was able to help me. I had to seek out different practitioners for support. I knew that I wanted to become the doctor I wish I had, so I can support so many more women who were in the same boat as I was.
I entered the University of British Columbia (UBC) with an aim to become a conventional medical doctor specializing in family medicine but it just didn’t seem like the right fit for me as I wanted to spend more time with my patients, delving deeper to find the root cause of issues. It was no doubt that Naturopathic Medicine was a perfect fit for me. A medical anthropology course, in 2nd year, changed my perspective of health and healing and gave me the courage to venture into this rewarding path. After 10 years of post-secondary education, as I was graduating from the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program, I learned how to heal myself learning from so many amazing doctors. I’m here to support you, so you don’t have to go to medical school to heal yourself and feel better. I’m passionate about helping you become the best version of yourself so you can do what you do best!
